In many cases yes — existing pool lights can be made smarter. If you have older incandescent fixtures, a colour LED retrofit usually gets you app control, colour and scenes. If you already have LED fixtures, the upgrade is often at the control layer rather than the light itself: adding a controller or relay that puts the lights on a schedule and into scenes with the rest of the backyard.
Lighting is also where specialty work pays off. Beyond the pool itself, bubbler lighting, step and bench accents, water-feature lighting and landscape lighting are what actually make a backyard look designed after dark.

Yes, either through the light manufacturer's own app or through a central automation app that controls the lights along with everything else. Where possible we prefer to consolidate control so you are not juggling four apps for one backyard.
Lighting is the upgrade with the widest gap between cost and perceived value — it is comparatively inexpensive and it changes how the backyard feels every single evening.
Where we would push back: replacing perfectly good colour LEDs just to change app. If your fixtures are fine, the money is better spent at the control layer so lighting joins your scenes.
