IntelliCenter, installed and configured properly — for pads that are already Pentair, or owners who want them to be.
Pentair IntelliCenter is a centralized, expandable automation platform that controls multiple pool devices — pumps, heaters, valves, lights, water features and chemistry — from one interface. It is the right choice when your equipment pad is already Pentair-dominant, or when you have decided you want a single-manufacturer ecosystem and are buying accordingly.
It is not automatically the right choice for a mixed-brand pad. Manufacturer platforms are strongest with their own equipment.
If your pump, heater and salt cell are already Pentair, IntelliCenter talks to them natively — you get status and detailed control rather than an on/off relay. Replacing that architecture with something else would mean paying to lose capability.
If your pad is genuinely mixed — a Moov pump, a third-party heat pump, someone else's salt system — an open platform will usually integrate more of it properly. We would rather tell you that before you buy than after.
Partly. Devices without a supported data connection can usually be switched through a relay or dry contact, which gives on/off control but not status or fine adjustment.
That distinction matters and is often glossed over. We will tell you, device by device, which of the two you are getting.
Not unless it is genuinely blocking something you want to do. Older Pentair systems still control equipment perfectly well. We replace an architecture when it limits you, not because a newer model exists.
Yes. A large share of the automation work we do is fixing configuration rather than replacing hardware — schedules nobody understands, valves labelled wrong, features that were never commissioned properly.
Whichever matches the equipment you already own. Both are capable manufacturer platforms. If your pad is neither, the question is really whether you want an ecosystem at all, or an open controller.
Choose Pentair because your equipment is Pentair — not because a brochure ranked it first. The controller should follow the pad, or the pad should be planned around the controller from the start.
